This week I'm joining the annual Small Business Week 2026, which is run by Entrepreneurs Circle in a shared national effort to support small businesses like mine online and in person. I have written before about the importance of small businesses and our contribution to the UK economy as well as to local community so this awareness campaign really spoke to me as it's really hard to get our voices heard in crowded markets!
Small businesses are the backbone of the UK economy but many of us are struggling with rising costs and logistical challenges. We take risks (usually with our own money), we partner with other small businesses, many of whom are local to us - which means money going directly back into the local community. We pay our taxes here - unlike the mega corporations, and we are up against these soulless corporate giants who can leverage economies of scale to take on increasing market share. Think David & Goliath! Perhaps most importantly, small businesses offer something that large corporations usually don't - authenticity and integrity. Products that have arisen out of a love and passion for their niche, rather than simply the pursuit of profit at all costs.
This is a campaign which seeks to give small businesses a voice, where we're often drowned out by huge marketing and PR budgets of the big boys! And thanks to Entrepreneurs Circle's movement, Apothaka has been featured in the press again! You can see the article from Hemel Today here.
